Kimberly Corman is the main protagonist of Final Destination 2 and the visionary who foresaw the Route 23 pileup.

She was placed on Death's list after the late death of Tod Waggner caused her to avoid the muggers meant to kill her, thus making her survival an unintended result of Alex Browning's interference with Death's design for Flight 180. Due to this, Death made a new design for her and all those who avoided their fates due to the unintended Flight 180 survivors, for them to die from a major pile-up on the Route 23 highway, in order to tie up all the loose ends caused by Alex's premonition.

Unlike most of the unintended survivors in the franchise, Kimberly is the only visionary who actually succeeded in cheating Death. After drowning herself in a lake, she was rescued by fellow survivor, Thomas Burke, who brought her to Dr. Kalarjian, as she resuscitated Kimberly using a defibrillator, thus invalidating both of their places on the list by giving her new life.

Years later, when the remaining members of Iris' bloodline came to "JB" looking for the person who survived in Iris' book, he told them the story of how Kimberly Corman defeated Death but exclaims that Iris was against such a "high risk" gamble and that they must either follow in Kimberly's footsteps or kill someone else for their lifespan if they wished to escape. Yet, despite Charlie "reviving" his drowning sister, a doctor later revealed that Stefani was only unconscious and thus the two were then immediately claimed by Death to end the Campbell bloodline.

Personality

Kimberly is a deeply sensitive yet remarkably resilient young woman forced to mature quickly following the traumatic loss of her mother in a carjacking. Driven by profound survivor's guilt, she exhibits a brave, determined, and "get it done" attitude, allowing her to challenge authority figures like Clear Rivers to save others from death's design. Despite the terrifying, chaotic situations she faces, she remains compassionate, rational, and, according to producers, balances this intense trauma with a fun-loving side. Ultimately, Kimberly is a strong, proactive protagonist who fights to protect her friends and survives against all odds through sheer grit and a sense of duty to her loved ones.

Biography

Kimberly was born in White Plains, New York, to Michael Corman. She is very close to her father, especially after her mother's death during a carjacking at a shopping mall. Kimberly continues to blame herself for what happened since she stayed behind to watch a news feed on Tod Waggner's death, while her mother was killed.

Kimberly attended college with her friends Shaina, Dano, and Frankie, and was originally going to spend her spring break with her friends in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Final Destination 2

Kimberly decides to take Route 23 for the road trip to Daytona Beach. Before entering the highway, Kimberly has an ominous premonition of a massive, deadly pile-up caused by a log truck. She rudely and cowardly parks her car on the on-ramp to prevent other drivers from entering the highway. Moments later, she and the other drivers watch as the pile-up occurs. To her surprise, a truck smashes into her SUV, killing her friends. Afterwards, Kimberly and the other survivors are interrogated by Officer Thomas Burke at the police station. There, Kimberly explains the similarities between her vision and Alex Browning's and expresses her fear that Death will still be after the survivors.

The survivors disregard her theory until survivor Evan Lewis dies in his apartment later that day. Kimberly gets the help of Clear Rivers, the only remaining survivor of Flight 180, to save the other survivors of the pile-up, but Kimberly calls Clear a "coward" for not helping the remaining survivors. Later that day, Thomas and Kimberly failed to save a kid from getting crushed by a falling glass pane. Clear then decides to help the survivors and leads Kimberly and Thomas to mortician William Bludworth, who claims that only new life can defeat Death. Kimberly concludes that if pregnant survivor Isabella Hudson has her baby, it will break Death's list, and they will all be safe.

The other survivors reunite at Thomas' apartment to look after one another until Isabella has her baby. After Nora Carpenter's death, the others leave to find Isabella. Along the way, their SUV's tire suffers a blowout, and they crash onto a nearby farm. After Eugene Dix is rushed to the hospital after getting impaled by a PVC pipe, Kat Jennings and Rory Peters each meet their demise. Kimberly, Thomas, and Clear rush to the hospital, and Kimberly has another vision that Dr. Ellen Kalarjian will strangle Isabella. After Thomas immobilizes Dr. Kalarjian, they see Isabella give birth and believe they have cheated Death. However, after Kimberly has another vision of someone with bloody hands in a submerged van, she realizes that Isabella was not meant to die in the pile-up.

Death and Resurrection

After Eugene and Clear are incinerated in an oxygen explosion (which also nearly kills both Thomas and Kimberly by sending a trolley towards them), Kimberly decides to commit suicide by drowning herself. Luckily, Thomas manages to rescue her, and she is resuscitated by Dr. Kalarjian, thus granting her "New Life". Sometime later, she and Thomas go to a picnic with the Gibbons family, who tell them that if it wasn't for Rory, their son Brian would be dead, causing Kimberly and Thomas to look at each other in horror. Brian is dismembered by a barbecue grill explosion moments later.

Signs/Clues

• Kimberly avoided death thrice. She was almost hit by the Truck from Hell, but Thomas intervened. She was almost hit by a trolley launched by the oxygen explosion that killed Clear and Eugene. She drove an ambulance into a lake and drowned, but she was revived.
• When she wakes up and looks at her TV, the man talking about Flight 180 tries to warn the viewers about becoming victims of death, which Kimberly ignores at first.
• When she turns on her radio, she hears the news about Flight 180's anniversary and the AC/DC song Highway to Hell. Both foreshadow the Route 23 pileup.
• At the top of the page of the newspaper, there is a heading that says "COST OF COMMUTING | B2-3," which could be referencing the Route 23 pile-up.
• When the pile-up occurs, she notices the mile marker says: "NEXT 180 MILES".
• In her room, there's a diary that says: "Road Trip," but Kim's keys are blocking the T, making it say: "ROAD RIP".
• Kimberly notices a kid playing with two cars: a black 18-wheeler truck and a red mud flap truck. Ironically, the kid is making them crash, referencing her premonition death and Death's first attempt at killing her.

Final Destination: Looks Could Kill

“	Where was I? Oh yes, Route 23. There was a girl who claimed she foresaw the wreck that caused the pile up and blocked an entire line of cars from getting onto the highway. Then, a few days later, the people she saved started to die under bizarre circumstances. Now do you get the point?	”

In Final Destination: Looks Could Kill, Kimberly was mentioned by Gunter Nonhoff, a survivor of the Coral Clipper sinking, while he explains to William "Brut" Simms, a fellow survivor, about the Route 23 pile-up and her premonition of it, realizing that what happened to Kimberly and her survivors back then is similar to their situation.

Final Destination Bloodlines

“	A long time ago, a young woman named Kimberly Corman found herself on Death's list, just like you. And when her turn finally came, she died. Flatlined, but her doctor managed to bring her back, and that broke the chain.	”

In Final Destination Bloodlines, Kimberly is confirmed by William to have successfully cheated death by dying and coming back to life, thus invalidating her place on its list for the Route 23 survivors as he explained to the remaining members of the Campbell bloodline. However, when Stefani asked why her grandmother hadn't done that to escape Death herself, William replied it was a high-risk option that she wasn't willing to gamble.

Specifically, Death becomes furious at anyone attempting to create New Life and will try everything in its power to stop this and kill everyone involved in the attempt, even if its not their assigned time, out of spite - showing that it despises the concept so much that it's willing to change a person's lifespan, despite it causing complications for its design, simply to both punish those involved and to prevent New Life from coming into being.

Trivia

• In the early script of FINAL DESTINATION 2, there was more chemistry between Kimberly and Thomas Burke. They owned real love and finally became a couple.
• Kimberly and Thomas inadvertently played a part in Tim and Nora's deaths, because if she had not yelled "pigeons", Tim wouldn't have noticed and scared them, and caused the chain reaction that leads to his death. Thomas said that a man with hooks is going to kill Nora, unaware that one of the limbs has caught her hair.
• In the original Final Destination, many characters are named after black-and-white horror film stars or directors. Kimberly is named for the famous horror director Roger Corman.
• Alex Browning, the protagonist and visionary of the first film, was originally going to be in the sequel alongside Clear to help Kimberly, but was killed off after negotiations between actor Devon Sawa and the studio fell through. Had he appeared, this would've been the first instance in the movie series in which two visionaries were directly involved with each other.
• Mary Elizabeth Winstead auditioned for the role of Kimberly. She later starred in the next sequel.
• In the script, she was originally named KIMBERLY BURROUGHS, 24.
• A. J. Cook, who is naturally blonde, dyed her hair brown in order to differentiate herself from the other blonde characters (Clear, Shaina, and Nora).
• The name Kimberly was originally going to be Clear's name. The name was recycled for this character instead. 
• Kimberly and Thomas' deaths from Choose Their Fate are based on the death of Brian Morse, who was trimming birch trees in Loveland, Colorado, when his gloved hand got caught in a wood chipper. He was pulled through the machine before anyone could help him, and his body was found inside, completely mutilated.
• In an early script for Final Destination 2, Kimberly has several moments where she completely gives up and cries.
• Kimberly is the first female protagonist in the series. She was later followed by Wendy Christensen in Final Destination 3, and then later by Stefani Reyes in Final Destination Bloodlines.
• Kimberly is one of only six characters throughout the entire Final Destination franchise who have cheated Death using the New Life method. The others are:
  • Jessica "Jess" Golden, a survivor of the Club Kitty collapse from Final Destination: Dead Reckoning who was revived after being electrocuted by a stun gun as she was crawling through a puddle.
  • Jamie, another survivor of the Club Kitty collapse who was saved when he was revived alongside Jess after being shot in the chest.
  • Juliet Collins, a survivor of the Mornington Crescent explosion from Final Destination: Destination Zero who was saved after drowning in the Thames River. She is also the only survivor who is known to have survived long-term, having mothered at least one child since her revival.
  • Patricia Fuller, a survivor of the South Hill Metroline bombing and the great-great-granddaughter of Juliet Collins. She was revived after giving herself a fatal dose of anesthesia.
  • Louise King, a survivor of the subway collision in Final Destination: End of the Line who was revived after being accidentally given a fatal dose of lidocaine by Kate Shelley.
• Originally, Kimberly, along with Thomas, was going to meet with Wendy and Julie in Train 081, revealing them to be cousins, but the idea was changed to where she and Thomas were killed by a wood chipper off-screen, as seen in the newspaper in Choose Their Fate, though this is non-canon as Kimberly is confirmed to have cheated Death in Bloodlines.
